QuickTakes Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026
QuickTakes does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything you record stays on your Mac, in a folder you choose. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no trackers.
What the app accesses (and why)
QuickTakes is a sandboxed macOS app. It requests only the permissions it needs to record, all used locally on your device:
Screen Recording — To capture your display, a window, or a screen region. Captured video is written only to the output folder you select.
Microphone (optional) — Only if you enable mic recording. Audio is written to your recording file; it is never uploaded.
Camera (optional) — Only if you enable webcam recording. The webcam is saved to its own local file.
Files (user-selected) / Movies folder — To save recordings to the location you choose.
Local network (optional) — If you use live streaming to OBS, QuickTakes runs a server on your local network only so OBS on your machine or LAN can read the stream. Nothing is sent to us or to the internet.
Data we collect
None. QuickTakes has no analytics SDK, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no user accounts. We do not see your recordings, your settings, or how you use the app.
Purchases
The only purchases in QuickTakes are optional “Support the developer” donations, processed entirely by Apple via the App Store. They unlock nothing — the app is fully unlocked for everyone. Apple handles payment and receipts; QuickTakes only checks your supporter status locally through StoreKit. We never receive your payment details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for how Apple handles transactions.
Your recordings
Your recordings are files on your Mac. You control them. Deleting the app or the files removes them; we have no copy because we never received one.
Children
QuickTakes is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date.
