LocalFor.Me
Support local, it's worth it!
LocalFor.Me is a local-commerce platform that helps people across the UK and Isle of Man discover — and buy from — vetted independent businesses near them. It pairs a consumer discovery experience (search by postcode with a distance radius, browse by category, or scan a map) with full online storefronts that let those same businesses actually sell. The through-line is refreshingly plain: support local, it is worth it.
It is built to solve the small trader's version of the big-platform tax. Rather than surrendering margin and brand identity to a national marketplace, a business lists for free and pays only when it sells — a low single-digit commission on storefront sales on top of Stripe's standard card fee, with no monthly fees or minimums. For shoppers it solves the opposite problem: cutting through generic national results to surface businesses that are both genuinely local and genuinely real.
Trust is the organising principle here, not an afterthought. Every business earns its green Verified tick by clearing a four-step human check — identity (a photo ID for sole traders, or a Companies House number cross-referenced against the live register for limited companies), proof of address, a manual review of the documents and public profile, and annual re-verification so the badge never goes stale. The application takes about five minutes, with a decision back within a couple of working days.
On the business side it behaves like a hosted shop: a branded storefront with products, photos, sections and an About page, secure Stripe checkout with direct bank payouts, built-in customer messaging, and a single dashboard for orders, refunds and invoices. Optional add-ons from £2 a month — QR kiosk ordering, made-to-order customisation, discount vouchers, extra image storage — let a shop grow into the platform over time. It is a lean, server-rendered web app with no native download required, built around postcode geolocation and a clean, card-based directory in a confident teal palette.
